ABSTRACT

Once the story world has been set up, and the relational stakes are in place, it’s time to get things moving. This chapter examines how to shift your story into action and more importantly how to maintain the momentum as the narrative unfolds. It provides advice on making choices for characters and explores the power of monologues as catalysts for bold choices. These choices launch the characters into the narrative where they will get into increasing trouble. Tips are given in this chapter on how to maintain this phase full of fun and games. Finally, this chapter proposes techniques for rehearsing with all the tools that have been mentioned up to now in the narrative improvisation chapters.
