Introducing Short Form book
The second part of the book is introduced here. The term “short form” is explained, and the kind of improvised performance it pertains to. The author examines the difficulty of “shaping” a show based on random scenes and provides tips for alleviating this problem. The difficulty with short form improvisation is to efficiently create a satisfying scene. So, the main question an improviser should ask is, “What makes a scene satisfying?” This chapter asks this same question and proposes that the solution is to examine notions of storytelling.
