ABSTRACT
This chapter demonstrates why Jimmy Baldwin is a fantastic teacher of African American students. Discussions of Baldwin as a teacher of truth who is devoted to the humanity, freedom and fulfilment of African American students is presented. Baldwin’s counsel to African American students that they are stronger than the conspiracy manufactured to control them is explained, along with the point that they must never make peace with efforts to control them. Memories of past great African American teachers, including Genuine and Jeanes teachers are recalled, along with John Dewey’s notion of being a reflective teacher.
