ABSTRACT

This chapter invites the reader to consider how to expand a digital humanities project’s reach. Topics discussed include universal design, considering access for people with disabilities, open access publishing, open source, crowdsourcing information, and communities of practice. Within these areas are brief discussions of topics such as the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative, paywalling, Wikipedia, and Creative Commons licensing. Spotlighted projects include AFRO Publishing Without Walls, Open Durham, and the Data-Sitters Club.
