ABSTRACT

This chapter follows six of our informants and their life trajectories into and out of the neo-Nazi movement. Six very different individuals have been selected: Two who have deradicalized, one who has disengaged but not deradicalized and three who never left and are still part of the movement. Using a biographical approach, we investigate key turning points, fateful moments and experiences of being stigmatized, as well as taking a closer look at the struggle to become destigmatized. In this chapter, we explore different motives for entering a hate movement and key events in the disengagement process.
