ABSTRACT
To reinforce the main theme of the film—the liberation of the homeland can only come about through the replacement of the ruling class with young heroes who are the bearers of true Germanic values and the unity of the Germanic people—an instruction booklet accompanied the film. The film uses a similar technique, depicting a clear generational division between those collaborating with the invaders and those wishing to oppose them. In the fifteenth century, German authors Germanized Arminius’ Latin name into Hermann, turning him into the savior of their people and glorifying his victory over the Romans as the founding event of Germany’s power. According to the Chinese government, this objective would bring peace and prosperity, but in order to succeed, it needs the community of intent of the Asian peoples and the free circulation of goods in the world which in the third millennium could be achieved by creating a new Silk Road comparable to the ancient one.
