ABSTRACT
This chapter proposes the ways forward to deal with some challenges articulated in previous chapters. Women empowerment is ensured in the export-oriented garment industry but adequate steps need to be executed to uphold this achievement. Mobilization of resources should be allocated by the state not only to the large and medium factories but also to the small factories. After the Rana Plaza tragedy, there is no way to deny that a long-term buyer-supplier relationship, collaboration with different stakeholders, and a proactive role of educational institutions in supplying skilled workforce are crucial for the sustainability of the Bangladesh garment industry. A lesson is learned from the current pandemic that “business as usual” cannot rescue this sector from falling apart.
