ABSTRACT

The study examines a 41-year-old paediatrician with the Miller-Fisher variant of Guillain-Barré syndrome. The chapter presents key facts and figures on Guillain-Barré syndrome and discusses the background, clinical symptoms, daily activities and medication of the adult featured in the study. Communication and cognition are examined. Language is addressed in terms of speech intelligibility, morphology and syntax, vocabulary and semantics, and pragmatics and discourse. The chapter concludes wsith annotated suggestions for further reading, questions and answers.
