ABSTRACT

This chapter sets out the principal allegations made against the Bradford MP Naz Shah in spring 2016, including that she had accused Israel of war crimes, called for the expulsion of the Jewish population of that country, and complained that the Jews were taking over a poll on her Facebook page. It explores the history of Israel and of Palestine which neither Shah nor her allies ever explained but which underlay these posts. It sets out the economic conditions suffering by different groups of Palestinians, where the allegation of war crime is credible, and why ideas of expelling Israelis Jews to America rely on an exaggerated and false notion of the role played by recent arrivals to that country.
