ABSTRACT
This chapter uncovers how the translated verses of the Qur’an are decontextualized by the British, Italian and Spanish media and how they are reinterpreted by the trans-editor to evoke narratives associating the Qur’an, and in turn the religion of Islam and Muslims, with violence. It shows that the translated verses are presented as the original source, and the fact that it is a translation or the source of the translation is not acknowledged. The chapter provides quantitative and qualitative insights into how Muslims are narrated positively, negatively or neutrally by the British, Italian and Spanish media.
