ABSTRACT

This book concludes that the Qur’an, Islam and Muslims are narrated negatively across British, Italian and Spanish media. The media quote de-contextualised Qur’anic verses, with no relation to their original meaning, in Britain, Italy and Spain. Whilst a few positive and neutral narratives, which are written by or feature an interview with a Muslim, or compare the Qur’an to the Bible, have also been identified, the qualitative and quantitative results of the analysis indicate a correlation between the media coverage of Islam-related news and unfavourable views of Islam.
