ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the concept of culture exploring its semantic complexities in order to distill its meaning and implications for management. The chapter has been authored as a historical exploration of culture, carving its role in the evolution of various social structures and tracing its final foray into the realm of management in the form of a subfield labeled as intercultural business communication. It initiates the reader into the realm of intercultural business communication exploring the intersection of culture and management with its output in the form of communication diversity issuing out of value dissimilarities that mark the societies and hence the markets of various geo-cultural economies.
