Development through the ages

This chapter provides a broad overview of the history of global development, from the colonial era through the emergence of the ‘modern’ development era to the development and implementation of the Millennium Development Goals and Sustainable Development Goals. Charting the chronological evolution of dominant approaches to global development, this chapter focuses on the entwining of politics, foreign policy agendas, and global development policies.
