ABSTRACT

How long does it take to edit a documentary? Readers will learn all the factors that must be taken into account when setting a schedule for the editing of a documentary of any length, including type and quantity of raw footage, use of graphics, and the presence or absence of an assistant editor. Readers will also learn the approximate percentage of time needed for each stage of the process, including ingesting and organizing the project, viewing and digesting footage, making select reels, creating a first rough cut, refining the edit, and fine cutting.
