ABSTRACT

A large number of people object to Gandhi being seen as a political seer. Despite the efforts of great teachers to show that human unity and mutual respect are the highest and most desirable values which human beings should inculcate, divisive forces have continued to influence human behaviour. ‘Fear’ and ‘ego’ are key elements of human nature that play a crucial role in human relationships. Fear rules much of human behaviour. India, Israel and Pakistan still continue to build more and more nuclear plants. The reason is that nuclear power is cheaper to produce, and is the only way to cope with our increasing need for power. Every step that Mahatma Gandhi took in his life indicated that he had fully understood the purpose of Nature in creating this contradiction. Economic and industrial development was one of the earliest concerns of Gandhi.
