ABSTRACT

Throughout this book, the drawing on other methods from various orientations has been emphasised, which can help clients meet their goals and expectations in pluralistic sand-tray therapy. This chapter gives examples of how a therapist can offer the client ways of working by drawing on other approaches. These options can be considered when engaging in a collaborative discussion with the client in a decision-making process. Specific examples show how methods and strategies from different theoretical approaches are utilised in pluralistic sand-tray therapy. The theoretical approaches drawn upon in this chapter include person-centred therapy (PCT), classical person-centred therapy (CPCT), focusing-orientated therapy (FOT), experiential person-centred therapy (PCET), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), existential-informed person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), compassion-focused therapy (CFT), Gestalt therapy, schema therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), psychodynamic/Jungian sandplay, andnarrative therapy.
