ABSTRACT

The foundation for the pluralistic theoretical framework is introduced, presented in a schematic diagram. The foundation comprises the sand-tray component, described as a metaphorical experiential theatre, the pluralistic component featuring the characteristic elements of pluralism, and the symbolism component describing how the objects act as physical symbols, representing a client’s inner-experience, personal history, personal relationships, and wider social experience. This chapter incorporates excerpts from case studies demonstrating how research findings evidence the established theoretical concepts. In addition, a graph of pre- and post-CORE-10 scores demonstrate how all the clients in the case studies improved in their clinical scores, indicating a decrease in their distress once pluralistic sand-tray therapy was completed.
