ABSTRACT

A therapist is likely to work with a wide range of issues when counselling clients. However, there are some issues that the therapist is faced with on a regular basis, including anxiety, depression, loss, guilt and shame, relationship problems, suicidal thoughts, and self-harm. This chapter explores each of these presenting issues and how taking a collaborative approach using pluralistic sand-tray therapy is beneficial when working with that particular issue. Each issue is explored by referring to current research, and specific examples are provided to help the therapist work with the client’s psychological distress by drawing on the benefits of pluralistic sand-tray therapy.
