ABSTRACT

The first chapter aims to provide a definition and scope of capstone project. We will discuss the rationale for introducing capstone projects in educational courses and emphasise the growing need for implementing them as third-level final assessments in the field of education. We will discuss some of the evidence-based benefits of completing a capstone project as part of the final-year assessment and provide examples of their impact when introduced in schools. This chapter offers a foundation for designing a capstone project.
