ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 supports readers in breaking down storylines and designing storylines anchored on the climate crisis. This chapter begins to move readers into more active roles of activating student agency through intentionally designed curriculum that positions them as drivers of their own learning. As educators, we teach students – not curriculum (and there’s a very big difference). Teachers will have access to tools and resources to design culturally relevant and responsive student-driven experiences beginning with the launch of the instructional segment. Teachers will all move to integrating consistent and intentional discourse opportunities for sense-making. Through various opportunities, readers are introduced to accessible and vetted tools/resources to help develop scientifically literate individuals that use critical thinking skills to make sense of their world.
