ABSTRACT
Chapter 2 contextualizes the objectives of this book by discussing some theoretical and methodological issues. This chapter comprises three main parts. The first part provides a concise review of scholarship on doctor-older patient communication, primarily situated in WM contexts, making a case for the present research. The second part deals with my data sources and transcription conventions. The final section of this chapter introduces the theoretical and methodological frameworks of this research.
