ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on rights accruing to individuals when they find themselves in a State other than the State of their nationality. The chapter discusses the rights of aliens in general, and then moves on to discuss rights of foreign investors under bilateral investment treaties. Key concepts that are discussed and examined here are expropriation (whether direct or creeping), fair and equitable treatment, acquired rights, and full protection and security.
