ABSTRACT

This chapter synthesises all the evidence that has been presented across the book as part of an examination of past and present practices that support adults with learning disabilities to use technology. The outcomes of this synthesis are used to envisage a practice of the future. A case is made for a practice that addresses the full complexity of digital inequalities and that focuses more on possibilities than risks. In addition, a framework of core beliefs and knowledge is offered that might usefully inform future capacity-building initiatives. Ways in which the community might share knowledge in order to extend and practice support practices are also suggested. Finally, the importance of environments that encourage support workers to take risks and explore possibilities is outlined.
