ABSTRACT

A bedroom pod designed to look like a boutique hotel room is at the heart of Vivahouse’s co-living concept. These self-contained units can be inserted into any disused commercial building – be it an office or a shop – to turn it into a shared living environment. The three pods that were installed at Vivahouse Soho feature grown-up shades of deep blue, rusty red and soft grey. These are complemented by matching bedsheets, rugs, bedside tables, lighting and framed artworks, along with the shelves and surfaces that residents can personalise with their own belongings. In the shared spaces at Soho, the interior design reflected the temporary nature of the co-living setup without being low quality. Built-in features like the kitchen were cheap and cheerful, but they were accompanied by the classic furniture pieces that could look good in any setting.
