ABSTRACT

The shared house is a form of co-living that many people will have experienced at some point in their lives, most likely in the years between leaving the parental home and settling down with a partner. What LifeX has done is combine the shared home with a service model, taking all the hassle out of the process. The co-living company manages over 50 houses and apartments in six European cities, which mostly accommodate between four and eight people. LifeX has an in- house design team that plans the layout of each home, then selects products that best fit the arrangement of the spaces and the number of occupants they will accommodate. LifeX shows that it’s possible to enjoy more mobile lifestyles without switching to an entirely new form of home. In the same way that Airbnb has created a more homely alternative to the hotel, these properties offer a counterpoint to the large-scale co-living of brands.
