ABSTRACT

Chapter two analyses honour based oppression. This chapter explains different forms of oppression and the laws relating to them. It clearly points out the psychological harm of this form of honour based violence as well as possible physical harm and the way that this form can escalate into more severe types of honour crimes. It discusses the laws in England and Wales but highlights the lack of case law. This can be based on the fact that victims are reluctant to take action against family members, something that recurs in relation to the other forms of honour based violence as well.
