ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces different branches of the Del Riccio family and their origins from Tavarnelle, in the Chianti Valley. Previously unpublished documents found in the family archive allow the identification of the first churches in which the Del Riccio had an altar and burial site, the dating of their move to Florence and the purchase of a house in the Oltrarno region to the last decade of the fifteenth century. A paragraph is dedicated to Pietro Crinito, poet and family's boast lived at the end of the fifteenth century. Finally, the setting up of some wool trading companies during the 1530s and a post-mortem inventory of Giulio di Francesco Del Riccio's estate allow some conclusive observations about the family's lifestyle at the mid of the century.
