ABSTRACT
This chapter was created to spark an interest in knowledge about the necessary process of reviewing information we encounter. Research can be intimidating, and this chapter provides the reader with some of the basic information necessary to elevate their understanding of the research study process. Informed, knowledgeable play therapists will benefit clients and help further knowledge and acceptance in the professional realms. Research articles will be described by traditional sections, and questionable research practices will be discussed. A light is shed on confirmation bias, research methodology, downfalls in data handling, and how conclusions in research are formed. The future may bring a shift in the clarity of research design, collection, and the conclusions that result.
