ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book explores an exploration of the ways in which psychosexual and relationship issues have been addressed from the deep past up to the present day, in the process of which the influences on the development of Sexual Grounding Therapy (SGT). It describes SGT in the context of current thinking about sex and relationships and how issues with these are worked with professionally. The book provides detailed description of the SGT model and its therapeutic application and organisation. It addresses human beings’ needs at each of the stages of their psychosexual development, particularly as far as parental responses are concerned. The book explores the connection between these and many of the contemporary issues that people as a society are concerned with regarding sexuality and its expression in relationships.
