ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a theoretical analysis and evaluation of Zimbabwe's legal and regulatory framework aimed at promoting the effectiveness of public entity boards. It focuses initially on the role, selection and appointment, composition remuneration and performance evaluation processes of the board. Thereafter the chapter evaluates the existing policy and legislative frameworks to determine how effective they have been in enabling boards of public entities to effectively discharge their duties and the public entities to significantly contribute to economic and social development. To prove that good corporate governance is being given rigorous and serious attention, the institute of chartered secretaries and administrators in Zimbabwe, together with other organisations, has introduced annual awards that seek to cultivate a culture of good corporate governance. In 2014, Zimbabwe developed a draft corporate governance and remuneration policy framework, that governs the operations of state-owned enterprises and local authorities in regard to remuneration and corporate governance practices.
