ABSTRACT
Because the ideas of Jean-Jacques Rousseau had such a profound effect upon subsequent thinking regarding the way in which we should look at life, and because some of his views on education are still fully up to date, or even ahead of practice in a number of aspects of school life, while other ideas justify being jettisoned completely, we need some touchstones by which to judge which thoughts are worthy of being pondered upon and which are not.
