Denis Diderot, the Encyclopedia, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau's vision

In 1727 a Westmorland Quaker, named Ephraim Chambers, had produced two volumes, published in London under the title Cyclopaedia or an Universal Diđionary of the Arts and Sciences, which set out to give a summary of recent important additions to knowledge.
