ABSTRACT

Obesity is a critical issue in our culture, and the importance of physical activity among students has never been more important. One way to get students moving is through music. Music in many ways is the universal language. It connects cultures, generations, and even socioeconomic groups. The beauty of using music is that students don't need to be athletic or in great physical shape to move around. Music can also help focus a learner's attention. Music is sequenced, which helps us to recall memories. Information that travels on musical notes is learned more quickly and better retained for speedy retrieval. One of the most innovative ways to include music in the classroom is to bring pop culture into the classroom.
