ABSTRACT

This chapter describes where the Target Operating Model (TOM) fits with an organization's strategy?, where the TOM fits with enterprise architecture? and what the subcomponents of the TOM are and the typical way in which they are created? Enablement phase is a prerequisite for any top-down Business Process Management (BPM) program, which usually comprises either large-scale BPM programs or an enterprise-wide process-focused business transformation program. Enablement will provide the basis for a sustainable and agile BPM program and one that will allow the organization to continuously meet the objectives of the organization in the changing circumstances. The high-level process view enables the organization's managers to define the critical process areas upon which they may wish to focus. It will also assist in ensuring that all key executives, stakeholders, and participants in the BPM activities have a common language and understanding.
