ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an end-to-end insight into the role of realizing value in a Business Process Management (BPM) activity and ensures that the BPM project team takes time after the Implement phase to realize the benefits specified in the business case. Benefits management can also act as a catalyst for further change if the project is not realizing the expected benefits. This can force the project and organization to complete a review which can lead to changes in the approach to the project and thus to the subsequent realization of the expected value. Communication is critical during the specification and realization of the benefits. First, a well-communicated benefit provides transparency and improves the ability of an organization to track and realize the benefits. Second, well-communicated benefits will enable more buy-in from the employees and a better understanding of how to realize the benefits.
