ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the importance of ending an interview on a positive note. The interview results should be reviewed with the interviewee and any further clarifying and follow-up questions should be asked. The secondary interviewer, if one participated, should ask questions at the end if needed. The Topic List should be reviewed to ensure all topics were covered. This chapter further discusses the importance of evaluating the interview results, even if interview objectives were achieved. Self-evaluation is the hallmark of a professional. This chapter concludes with a discussion on conducting a follow-up interview if necessary. If the interviewer succeeded in breaking down barriers and gaining trust during the initial interview and if it ended on a positive note, a follow-up interview should be easily arranged.
