ABSTRACT

The Housing Corporation of Jordan was established in 1966. Its responsibility is to provide housing for low-income and middle-income Jordanians in accordance with national objectives, as set out in the current multi-year plan for economic and social development. The Corporation is on the verge of completing its largest project ever which was begun in 1978 and will create some 3,650 units of new housing. The purpose of the Loans Repayment Programme is to replace the manual system that had been used for keeping track of loans and payments on all of the units delivered by the Housing Corporation. There is no shortage of potential computer applications in the Housing Corporation. The potential applications of such a capability are too numerous to mention in detail, but they extend all the way from engineering to economics and from finance to demography. Appropriate computer programmes can help the Corporation to monitor the performance of its contractors.
