ABSTRACT

The Tunisian Commission generale du developpement regional et de l’amenagement du territoire (COGEDRAT) is a parastatal body under the Ministère du Plan. COGEDRAT is committed to computerization by virtue of its organizational heritage. COGEDRAT has both a first draft of a plan and staff with practical computer experience. COGEDRAT staff could establish a simple microcomputer-based plan monitoring system for both physical plans and regional development plans. Direction-generale de l’amenagement du territoire (DAT) came into COGEDRAT with no equipment but with a detailed plan for full-scale computerization. This Plan informatique 1984-88 was prepared for the DAT by the Centre national de l’informatique in April 1983 and anticipated a total expenditure of more than DT600,000 over five years. The Plan recognizes that the data necessary for the data bank will have to come from dozens of sources in numerous organizations and that keeping them up to date will be a constant and vital process.
