Historizing humanity – some theoretical considerations on contextualization and understanding with an outlook on the idea of humanity

In this chapter the concept of humanity is analyzed in several respects. First, the typical of modern thinking is presented and humanity is explained in this form. In a second step, this understanding will be deepened in the context of current discourses in cultural studies. These discourses are interpreted as sharing the current cultural orientation of human life practice. Here the practical relevance of intercultural communication is the main focus.
