ABSTRACT

The body is the palette of trauma, and the palate is an essential route to recovery. Optimal nutrition provides fuel for the brain-mind, and body. There is no single right diet for everyone. Some people are carnivores, some are vegetarians, and others do well with various animal and plant proteins. People with poor nutrition will never recover fully from PTSD. They may always be dependent upon pharmaceuticals unless the brain and body receive specific and sustained nutrient-dense foods to aid in recovery. Reducing stress enhancing neuroendocrine function can be accomplished best with nutritional support. Researching one’s cultural/genetic heritage is a foundation for nourishment. Preparing both freshly cooked and raw foods, avoiding the SAD (standard American diet), and supplementing with a range of herbs, glandulars, vitamins, and minerals supports optimal health.
