ABSTRACT

The conclusion recaps some of the intentions and highlights of the preceding chapters. It also elevates some of the persistent and emerging questions facing collaborative governance, including (1) challenges to legal authority and political legitimacy; (2) whether and how to institutionalize collaborative governance; (3) the application of collaborative governance in contexts outside the United States; and (4) the intersection of collaborative governance and racial justice. Finally, the conclusion argues that collaborative governance has the very real potential to address some of the most polarizing and intractable issues facing communities and their citizens.
