ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the role of Pope Francis as mediator in different circumstances through his own journeys. Pope Francis journeyed to help others in their efforts for peace that were aided by Francis’ arrival, including his visits to Colombia, Cuba and the United States, Myanmar and Bangladesh, and Kenya, Uganda, and the Central African Republic. Before the pandemic he wanted to visit Syria and Iraq in order to foster peace, but he was advised not to do so. His visit to the European Parliament followed such possibility of affecting peace by addressing European nations on their role of responsibility for peace at a global scale.
