ABSTRACT

Hoping to stimulate discussion and debate, in Chapter 10 we present concrete proposals for how “reproductive labor” might be organized and rewarded in a participatory economy. After clarifying assumptions about the education and healthcare systems we assume would accompany a participatory economy, we discuss women’s caucuses, anti-discrimination legislation, and affirmative action policies to combat sexism in the economy as well as proposals to overcome the sexist division of labor in households regarding domestic, caring, and socialization labor.
