ABSTRACT
The idea that artificial intelligence and intelligent robots will come to dominate humans has led both scientific and science fiction authors to speculate as to whether we will reach to a point in our development where intelligent machines will start to think about what they should do with unintelligent humans. This chapter presents various possible practical benefits of how synthetic ethics can affect the development of artificial intelligence. When referring to robot ethics, we mean ethical norms and moral codes that are designed and implemented into intelligent robots. Applying this definition of robot ethics means that we will not consider the ethics of the people who design robots or ethical theory in general. The chapter also presents several possible practical benefits of how reflective synthetic ethics can influence the development of artificial intelligence. Moral intelligence will be somewhat similar to what we might call synthetic ethics, that is, artificial ethics.
