ABSTRACT

In line with the research questions asked in the first chapter, this chapter is built on four key thematic areas: communities’ dependency on forest resources for livelihood, especially in South Asia; the consequences of climate-induced disaster on livelihood and gendered relations; the post-disaster humanitarian intervention of NGOs; and the use of intersectionality as a theoretical frame for my book. These thematic areas align directly with the four research questions raised in Chapter 1, and seek to describe contributions made by recent scholarship, along with gaps that the current study aims to address.
