ABSTRACT

This chapter argues the transformation of lives, living, livelihoods and gendered relations of the Munda and Shora forest communities considering the long-term consequences of Cyclone Aila since 2009. This chapter discusses three types of consequences which Aila imposed on livelihood activities in the Sundarbans and discusses the ways in which men and women of the studied communities’ adopted strategies to mitigate livelihood loss and damage Aila created.
