ABSTRACT

WHILST this scene passed at Guairdy, Rosella, happily unconscious of it, was endeavouring to recruit her health and spirits, which had both been much discom-posed from anxiety and vexation: she felt the promise Miss Beauclerc had made, very efficacious in soothing the agitation she had experienced, and eagerly anticipated the moment when she might attempt her vindication in the opinion of her ancient friend, Mr. Mordaunt, and solicit the continuance of his friendship, which at a time so critical, might form the future colour of her life.
