ABSTRACT

We review the change in perspective which we have provided in this book. When we focus on temporal patterns, we can predict what leads to successful learning outcomes. By making inductive inferences from APT results, predictable patterns of instructional effectiveness can be identified. We further contrast APT with other existing approaches to learning analytics. We conclude by discussing the value of theory for APT and its further extension to MAPSAT: Map and Analyze Patterns and Structures Across Time.
