ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces disorders of learning and co-ordination and the provision associated with them. It explains aspects of these disorders: definitions, prevalence, causal factors, identification and assessment, and co-occurring conditions. Turning to provision, the chapter outlines the nature of curriculum and associated assessments, pedagogy, therapy and care, resources, and organisation. The content and structure of the book is discussed, highlighting features of the new edition. Finally, the chapter describes the proposed readers of the book.
