ABSTRACT

The symbiotic organization, with the processes of splitting, idealization and projective identification, support the emergence of symbols and thought-activity. At the source of thoughts are, on the one hand, the sensory, and on the other, intersubjective experiences. The work of the object is fundamental to the genesis and development of the infant’s thought-activity. A junction between perception and intersubjectivity is the mutual gaze. From “primitive thoughts” of sensory origin, “preconceptions”, “conceptions”, symbolic thoughts and concepts develop. The rhythmicity of experiences conditions the development of this thought-activity.
